What Makes an Expert?

These days, we're often told to believe that an expert is someone "qualified" in a subject because they've been confirmed by those who have come before them, or because they've worked and payed to get a diploma, or because they've studied a lot. But is that really what makes an expert? Why does it seem that so many of the so-called qualifiers have little to nothing to do with the subjects themselves? These are the questions I will be addressing in today's episode.
